JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilites:
The External Affairs Manager duties include but are not limited to:
External Affairs
- Build and maintain relationships with key contacts and decision-makers in the government, different ministries & among local authorities.
- Accompany Heads of Schools and/or Managing Director and/or senior staff to meetings with government officials and facilitate conversations for positive representation of schools in said meetings/relationships.
- Participate in relevant meetings and conferences organized by authorities.
- Act as primary contact for matters related to legal issues, licenses, complaints, litigation, contractual disputes, contract breach, copyright infringement, violation of company regulations, etc.
- Work with authorities to secure all required authorization and permission to allow smooth implementation of the Group’s programs and initiatives.
- Actively manage any crisis from a government relations perspective.
- Develop relationships with press, newspapers, community for the benefit of the Group.
- Support functional or departmental managers in managing government-level relationships and address any issues at that level.
- Review & lead in coordinating the preparation & submission of reports to government authorities across the group in a timely manner.
- Assess advice and recommendations from local lawyers and recommend approriate solutions.
Legal
- Identify and recommend approriate approaches for policies and procedures and generate awareness among staff and support compliance.
- Ensure all correspondence with the government is in line with the School’s Group policies and practices.
- Prepare and share regular progress reports with internal stakeholders.
- Provide legal and regulatory advice and support on issues relating to the Group’s business activities in Vietnam in a timely and reliable manner.
- Prepare, draft and review the Company’s contracts, agreements and any other legal related documents to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations
- Lead negotiations with other private or public third parties on legal matters with a view of eliminating or mitigating any legal risks for the Company.
Others:
- Plan & manage reasonable budget for goverment relations activities
- Other tasks assigned by stakeholder or by the School's Groups's
JOB REQUIREMENT
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor or Master’s Degree
- Experience:
- At least 7 year experience in similar position, experience in multi-national organization, law services, or education sectors is preferred.
- Deep experience in dealing and working with authorities.
Position Requirements:
- Deep understanding of External Affairs, principles, and practices in Vietnam, esp. in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
- Proven academic and experiential background in Vietnamese law
- Proven ability in advocacy with authorities.
- Ability to come up with creative and effective solutions that are within legal confines and that are commercially practical.
- Good communications and presentation skills.
- Good sense of responsibility and integrity.
- Strong legal foundation.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and MS Office.
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Able to work in a fast-moving and dynamic environment.
- Able to work with people from diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
